How to store this chili?
Transfer cooled chili to an airtight container or large ziplock bag. Keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or the freezer for up to a month. Thaw in the fridge overnight, or heat frozen chili in a pot with a ½ cup of water on low heat.
How to customize this chili?
A common add in for this chili is cut up sausages or hot dogs. Corn kernels are also very popular as well. My husbands favorite is leftover steak that I cube up and add toward the end of cooking.
How to serve this chili?
Traditionally served over a bowl of sticky white rice and topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and diced yellow onion. Corn bread and pickled onions are often served along side.
