Switch up your burger night with this easy and mess-free teriyaki burger recipe! It’s the perfect blend of salty and sweet.

This Teriyaki Burger is:

  • sweet, salty, and aromatic
  • not messy - all of the teriyaki flavor is in the patty
  • the perfect summer burger

Serve this burger with a side of fresh pineapple, and you’re eating lunch on a beach in Hawaii!

Ingredients for Teriyaki Burger

  • Ground beef - I use 80/20, use whatever beef you prefer
  • Egg - helps bind all the ingredients
  • Onion - sweet yellow onion works best
  • Sesame oil - regular or toasted
  • Sugar - brings the sweetness and creates nice char, you could sub brown sugar
  • Green onion - fresh flavor
  • Soy sauce - adds a deep salty flavor throughout the patty
  • Garlic - great flavor once caramelized with beef - mince finely
  • Ginger - bright flavor - grate finely

How to Make Teriyaki Burgers

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a large bowl. Mix thoroughly with your hands.
  2. Form into hamburger patties. Lightly season both sides with salt + pepper.
  3. Cook on the grill or fry in a large pan.
  4. Assemble and enjoy while hot!

What toppings can I add?

Grilled pineapple and red onion are delicious on this burger. Mixing teriyaki sauce with mayonnaise makes a yummy condiment for this burger too.

How do I store this burger?

Cooked burgers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Raw and uncooked patties can be stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag in the freezer for up to a month. Thaw in the fridge overnight.

What should I serve with this burger?

Fresh pineapple, french fries, and a glass of POG juice are perfect with this burger. Tater tots and coleslaw are always delicious sides too!
